Would it ever be possible to have the whole internet shutdown? Stop anyone accessing websites and social media? Probably not, but an Israeli chairty gave it ago. The idea was to raise awareness of the kidnapping of two soliders, by 'overtaking as many Israeli websites as possible. At a specific moment at in time; the kidnapped poster was flagged up for 5 minutes on thousands of websites; creating an internet shut down. The campaign raised awareness by 65% of the Israeli population - a successful campaign.
